The tier 5 American premium heavy
tank T14 has been out for quite some time now and you see them here and there.
Being at tier 5 means the T14 is a good entry level premium tank for most
since it is in a very good tier and also costs much less than tier 8 premium
tanks. So while the T14 doesn’t earn as much as tier 8 premium tanks it
does provide a nice incentive for those not wanting to plop down massive
amounts of gold into a single tank they may or may not enjoy.
History
The Assault Tank T14 was a joint
project between the United States and the United Kingdom. The T14 tank was
supposed to be a design that was to be shared by both countries to give an
infantry tank for British use. Developed between May 1942 and May 1943.
Two prototypes were manufactured and tested. However, mass production was
canceled, and T14 never became more than an experimental vehicle.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Frontal armor has good angle
- Turret armor
- Side screens that may absorb damage
- Acceleration
- Speed
- Damage (DPM)
- Frontal armor difficult to pen by other tier V tanks
- Excellent credit grinding abilities, provided standard ammo is used
- Good HP
- Very thick armor when properly angled, and angling +10 degrees automatically bounces every shell up to 92mm caliber (frontal armor is 50mm at 65 degrees)
Cons:
- Low alpha damage
- Very Low penetration
- Bad accuracy
- Traverse speed
- Turret traverse speed
- Frontal armor isn't strong enough to withstand TD shells
- Inferior to KV-1 and T1 HT against other heavies
Tactics
As touched on earlier the T14 is very mobile for a
heavy tank and should be exploited. Use this speed to get to places where
other tanks like the KV-1 cannot and this will allow you to bully lower
tier/lightly armored tanks giving your team an upper hand on the more heavily
armored ones. Sticking with your medium tanks/forward force will help
turn the tides of those battles and then allow you to swing back to help out
your heavy tanks. Never go toe to toe with a tier 6 with decent armor
since you simply do not have the HP and firepower to deal with them alone.Like other American tanks hilly terrain or any non-smooth terrain is your friend allowing you to hide your weaker hull and to survive longer. Your spaced armor on the sides also helps with soaking up HE/SPG fire effectively and it is key to learn how to angle effectively(check out the weak spot guide) to maximize your armor. If you simply sit pointing at an enemy and do not move they will be able to pick apart your weak spots easily….wiggling and angling will make hitting those places very difficult.
